Metro Detroit: Livonia’s Coach’s Corner

This week we are visiting Coach’s Corner in Livonia, checking out some of their great Happy Hour specials.  We went back through our posts and realized we have never featured Coach’s Corner before . . . so it’s about time we do so!  Coach’s Corner is located in Livonia on 7 Mile at the Fox Creek Golf Course. However, you don’t have to be a golfer to go there.  They are an extremely family oriented sports bar and are known to be a gathering place for sports teams of all ages to gather after a game or event.

For those of you who know Livonia, Coach’s Corner used to be located on Farmington just N of 7 Mile.  The restaurant at Fox Creek used to be Sidelines, in the early 2000’s. Then it was before sold in 2006, and in June of 2006 it was reopened as George Murphy’s. George Murphy’s was a joint venture between Mike George, of Coach’s Corner, and John & Helene Murphy, of Commercial Lawnmower on Plymouth Rd in Livonia.  Both are highly regarded in Livonia as very successful businessmen . . . so why not join forces to create something special.

George Murphy’s did very well in the beginning, but after some years past, and business started to decline,  Mike decided to buy out the Murphy’s.  When his lease expired on the Farmington Rd location of Coach’s Corner, the decision was made to move up the road to the golf course, renaming George Murphys Coach’s Corner. Today Coach’s Corner does a great business due to Mike’s commitment to his customers and service. You will see him on a nightly basis, roaming the dining room conversing with his guests and helping the servers when needed.

The happy hour here is Monday thru Friday from 12-6 PM featuring discounted drinks, 75 cent bone in wings, $2 potato skins, pretzel bites and chips and dips for $7.99.  They also run game time specials for all sporting events with all the items mentioned above as well as $2 coney dogs and $5 select shots

During the week there are daily specials everyday of the week like the Monday any burger with fries or tots for $12.99 and all you can eat fish & chips on Fridays.  They are also know for their pizza, homemade meatloaf and chicken & dumpling soup.

Here’s a sample of their weekly specials:

Coach’s Corner has always been known for the place to watch sports and enjoy some great food.  A lot of renovation went into making into what it is today.  It is brighter and more open than it was years ago and there are TV’s everywhere you look. You are never in a bad seat for the game.

Coach’s Corner is located at 36000 W. Seven Mile Road in the Fox Creek Golf Course. They are open every day at 9 a.m. Monday Tuesday and Wednesday they close at 11 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday they close at 12 a.m. and Sunday they close at 10 p.m.

Until next time . . . live well, eat well and enjoy life!
