Metro Detroit: Northville’s Great White Buffalo Brewing Company

On March 3rd of this year, brothers Eric and Ryan Sokolowsi, along with their business partner John Skrbal, opened Great White Buffalo Brewing Company in Downtown Northville.  They secured a prime location, right at the corner of Center and Main Streets. The space was previously occupied by Yogurt Palooza a few years back.

Eric, who started brewing at home over 10 years ago, is a graduate of Schoolcraft Colleges Brewing and Distillation program.  After completing the course he, and his partners, started looking for the perfect spot to open their dream brewery and found it in April of 2022 at 101 W Main Street in Northville.  After 10 months of renovations they were ready to open.

While beers are their specialty, they also have a full service kitchen.  Their menu is unique in the fact that while they serve burgers, they are bison burgers. They also have some interesting apps like their whipped feta dip, Mexican street corn dip, Pew Pew shrimp (their version of bang bang shrimp) and a giant warm pretzel served with beer cheese and spicy mustard.

STARTERS

Their signature burger is the Buffalo Burger topped with brie, balsamic onion jam and kale.  They have many other burgers and sandwiches to choose from.

They also have flatbreads, a variety of tacos, soups and salads.  On Wednesdays you can get a Pizza and a Pint for $13.

Their beers are the star of the show and they usually have an offering of 8-10 at any given time, including a seasonal special or two.  Right now they are offering a Peppermint Stout and a Gingerbread Amber Ale.  There is also a Brewers blend mixture called the Snake Bite, a 50/50 mixture of stout and cider.  I had to try it and it was pretty good.! A nice balance of sweet and the rich bitterness of a good coffee stout.

If you are not into beer or ciders, or you are not a drinker, that’s OK.  They offer non-alcoholic Mocktails as well.  The Magic Mike, Norie’s Nectar, and Honolulu Blues (go LIONS) to name a few.  They also offer their house made root beer, and for the furry friends in your life they offer a “Puppers Menu” with spent grain treats or a cup of bacon.

The Great White Buffalo is open Wed-Thurs 4-9PM, Fri 12PM-12AM, Sat 11:30AM-12AM and Sun 12PM-8PM

Until next time . . . live well, eat well and enjoy life!
